Overview
Brought on at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, I joined Cambridge Systematics as a Web Developer and Designer. Camsys was looking for a candidate with experience in web development and graphic design to help meet the increasing client demands for websites and to assist in the day-to-day of the Design Team.
Cambridge Systematics is an employee-owned transportation consulting firm that delivers a broad range of data-driven solutions and strategic services to clients across the public and private sectors. Key clients include major state and federal transportation agencies such as the Florida Department of Transportation, Texas Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), and others nationwide.
Role &
Responsibilities
Role
I was hired at Cambridge Systematics to fulfill a dual role as both Web Developer and Designer. I was a member of the Design Team within the Marketing and Communications department. Tasks were distributed between team members based on current work capacity, individual skillsets, familiarity with the client.

Web
Developer
As a web developer, I was responsible for designing, developing, and deploying websites tailored to client specifications and brand guidelines.
The process typically began with creating the visual identity and look and feel of the website in Figma. After the designs were approved, we would implement them using either HTML/CSS or a content management system (CMS)—most commonly Statamic. Once a website was reviewed and approved for launch, I managed its deployment and ongoing maintenance—initially through A Small Orange, and later transitioning to DigitalOcean.
Additionally, I contributed to the maintenance and enhancement of multiple existing client websites, updating layouts and creating new content. I also designed and implemented branding to RShiny dashboards.

Designer
As a designer, I was responsible for developing both digital assets and print-ready materials, ensuring that all deliverables adhered to client branding and design standards. I also provided design consultation for internal and external clients to ensure visual consistency.
My work included creating social media graphics, reports and executive summaries, covers, logos, brochures, posters, banners, and infographics.
